20 year reunion wrap up
It’s all over. The stories were told, the food was eaten, and the pictures were taken. 21 classmates and their guests made it to the Savannah Yacht Club for the final night. The food was once again wonderful, thank you Jason Hagan for arranging two fabulous menus, I think everyone especially enjoyed the steamed oysters along with the Lowcountry Boil, Brunswick stew, BBQ chicken, and peach cobbler.
Classmates present were: Sharon Coleman Waters, Eddie Wilson, Shana Standard,Melissa (Missy) Dove Wynn, Mary Highsmith Wilson,Cheryl Andrews Bland, Dudley New, Jason Hagan, Stephanie Stapleton Wilson, Ari Wajnberg, James Cunningham, Patrick Razuri, Rene Butterfield Herrin, Karla Rahn Cannon, Tim Inglis, John Mesaros, Kellie Grainger Clark, Marc Bigbie, Susan Tutan Gonzales, Nancy Cribbs Anderson, Susann Miller Chalhub, and Cathy Grimes Pursell.
Photos from both nights are up on Facebook with more being added as people get home and settled. I hope everyone enjoyed it and look forward to seeing each other a lot more often than every 10 years. Jason mentioned doing something a few times a year so keep your eyes out for something in the coming months.
20 year reunion, Friday night
Each one of us is a brain…and an athlete…and a basket case…and a princess…and a criminal ~ The Breakfast Club
But last night 15 of us were all together for the first time in 20 years, as a family. We met at 7:00 at the Bull Street Chop House and immediately were drawn into groups with conversations from the past. Spouses were just as much involved too, it was like we never separated. There were Miracle annuals from many different years and classmates flipping through pages wondering, pointing, laughing, and remembering the good times, and even a few regrets about the not so good. There was wonderful food, billed as “heavy appetizers” but were pretty much a meal. Caesar salad, seared ahi tuna, focaccia bread, jambalaya, and roast beef followed by chocolate and cheese cakes.
Classmates present were; David Little, Jason Hagan, Eddie Wilson, James Cunningham, John Mesaros, Nancy Cribbs Anderson, Stephanie Stapleton Wilson, Mary Highsmith Wilson, Susann Miller Chalhub, Marc Bigbie, Cathy Pursell, Sam Newberry, Ari Wajnberg, Patrick Razuri, and Richard Coomer.
Before we knew it, over 3 1/2 hours had passed and everyone started making plans to go out afterward, going home to relieve baby sitters, and well wishing until Saturday night, and we all scattered for the evening to finish making new memories with our classmates.

Classmate photos make big stir on Facebook
Karla Rahn Cannon has SCP classmates buzzing with a recent upload of 80 145 candid shots of classmates from middle and high school days. Not long after she started uploading and tagging the photos, inboxes lit up with conversations about BIG hair, Members Only Jackets and Parachute Pants on non uniform days, and other embarrassing moments. Many of the classmates in the photos have vowed to “get even” by digging through their shoes boxes for their 20+ year old pictures and fire up their scanners to post as well. Remember, there are 80 145 of these so if you would like to find out if you were caught on film, sign up for Facebook and reminisce with us.
Two weeks and counting until our 20 year reunion!
Yes it’s hard to believe but we are only two weeks from our reunion weekend starting at 7:00 Friday night, January 23rd, at the Bull Street Chop House in Downtown Savannah. The Chop House is located above Il Pasticcio on the corner of Bull and Broughton. If you planning to attend the reunion please be sure to let us know by contacting us through the website, emailing Jason Hagan, Eddie Wilson, or Marc Bigbie directly if you have their contact info, or through Facebook. Be sure to send your checks to Eddie Wilson A.S.A.P. so that we can properly plan for your attendance. More information can be found on the Reunion Page. Also, there are still a few classmates that are unaccounted for, be sure to check our list of missing classmate on this website to see if there are any of these MIA’s that you may know anything about. Even if it’s only a married name or last city you knew that they lived in, it will help in tracking them down.

There is also a Group on Facebook for our class and an Event created for the reunion where you can RSVP. The group of SCP Alumni on Facebook is growing and there are 30 of us just from 88 at last count, including most of the exchange students, so step into this century and join us on Facebook so we can all keep in touch. Links are on the right to Facebook Groups and the reunion link on this site is at the top right. Keep an eye on that countdown clock too, it’s getting close to 0!
Check the post further down the page for missing classmates too. If you know where any of these people are, have them contact us through the website or Facebook, or give us their information so we can try to reach them.

SCPS Alumni “After the Turkey’s Gone Get Together” Report
There was an informal gathering of alumni from Savannah Christian Preparatory School on Saturday November 29, 2008 in the hopes of starting a new after Thanksgiving tradition among us old folks from the 80′s. There were three present though from ’88; Mary Highsmith Wilson, Stephanie Stapleton Wilson, and Marc Bigbie. We had a great time seeing each other and meeting classmates all the way back to c/o ’80. This will hopefully be an ongoing tradition. More pictures can be found at the Facebook Group.
Making a World of Difference – Challenge for the Class of 1988
In our senior year, our class raised enough money to buy the intercom system for the high school. Now our Alma mater needs help again and we have a chance to Make a World of Difference. K Lynn Lewis has created a cause called Making a World of Difference and his first goal is to pay for the door handles on the new high school by Thursday November 21. He only needs to raise $100 and the minimum donation is $10 so there is no reason why the class of ’88 should not be able to complete his goal and we will purchase the handles that will be the first things thousands of students will touch every day for years to come.
**UPDATE** With less than 24 hours left to the original goal, it was met and exceeded. A new goal has been set of $500 so those of you just now finding out about it right now can still help. Thank you to everyone that helped meet the original goal.
Follow this link to read more and help; Making a World of Difference. Even by joining you are helping to promote this cause by spreading the word to everyone.
