SCPS Alumni “After the Turkey’s Gone Get Together” Report
There was an informal gathering of alumni from Savannah Christian Preparatory School on Saturday November 29, 2008 in the hopes of starting a new after Thanksgiving tradition among us old folks from the 80’s. There were three present though from ‘88; Mary Highsmith Wilson, Stephanie Stapleton Wilson, and Marc Bigbie. We had a great time seeing each other and meeting classmates all the way back to c/o ‘80. This will hopefully be an ongoing tradition. More pictures can be found at the Facebook Group.
Making a World of Difference – Challenge for the Class of 1988
In our senior year, our class raised enough money to buy the intercom system for the high school. Now our Alma mater needs help again and we have a chance to Make a World of Difference. K Lynn Lewis has created a cause called Making a World of Difference and his first goal is to pay for the door handles on the new high school by Thursday November 21. He only needs to raise $100 and the minimum donation is $10 so there is no reason why the class of ‘88 should not be able to complete his goal and we will purchase the handles that will be the first things thousands of students will touch every day for years to come.
**UPDATE** With less than 24 hours left to the original goal, it was met and exceeded. A new goal has been set of $500 so those of you just now finding out about it right now can still help. Thank you to everyone that helped meet the original goal.

SCPS Alumni “After the Turkey’s Gone Get Together”
Not specific to class of 1988 but there is a gathering planned for the Saturday after Thanksgiving organized by Laura DeYoung Thompson and Louis A Houston. There is a Group created in Facebook as well, I’ve added a link on the right under Links. Here is their exact post;
The first of what we all hope will become an annual event! If your Thanksgiving plans include a trip to Savannah, please join us on Saturday, November 29th for a fun reunion of sorts. Toss that leftover turkey and head down to Coach’s Corner. This is a casual, come when you can event. Eat lunch, catch up with old friends and watch some football! Children are welcome. Dress is casual.
This event is open to all SCPS Alumni, as well as students who attended SCPS! ~ Laura Thompson
Nine SCP ‘88 classmates meet for unofficial reunion
On Friday October 3, 2008 an impromptu “reunion” was held at Churchill’s Pub with 9 members of Savannah Christian class of ‘88. John Mesaros, Christy Howard, Stephanie Stapleton Wilson, Mary Highsmith Wilson, Beth Albert Monahan, Susan Tutan Gonzales, Cindy Zeigler Barnette, Eddie Wilson, and Jason Hagan, in attendance. Other former classmates were there as well such as Dondra Bass. Mary and Christy planned this last minute gathering the weekend before hoping that a homecoming eve party would have the best chances of getting local Savannians as well as out of towners to come. More pictures may be found on Mary’s Facebook page. Although contacting classmates didn’t start until 6 days out, the alumni site and Facebook helped the planners reach as many people as possible on short notice and bring in many of the locals without prior commitments.
I hope we can continue to have get togethers like this more often without waiting another ten years for a reunion so if there are any MIA members of our class that you may be able to reach please have them contact us through this website or Facebook to be added to the contact list.
